THE Senate majority bloc will meet in January to discuss a suggestion that the Senate and the House of Representatives reconvene the bicameral conference committee to further strengthen the abolition of the graft-ridden Road Board.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel, who met with his House counterpart, Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr., said the bicameral conference committee may be reconvened on January 14 to craft the wordings to the law that would abolish the agency and revert the income and the funds to either the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) or National Treasury.
Senate President Vicente Sotto 3rd has admitted that the Road Board Abolition bill would need the signature of Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo before he can send it to the Palace for the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sotto said that the only remaining steps to complete the abolition of the agency were the printing and signing of the enrolled copy of the bill, which would be sent to the President for approval. JAVIER JOE ISMAEL
