Retired prosecutor’s house ransacked; robbers flee with P4-M loot

POLICE are hunting down the robbers who broke into the house of a retired prosecutor and stole at least P4 million worth of cash, jewelry, and valuables in Quezon City over the weekend.

Investigators of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the victim as George Cabanilla, 65, a resident of Barangay Bagong Pag-asa.

Police report showed that the heist was discovered by the victim’s house helper upon waking up at past 5 a.m., Saturday inside Cabanilla’s house on Mindanao Avenue.

According to the helper, she woke up to a messy house and noticed that the window in the kitchen was already broken.

When they checked, they found out that gadgets, two luxury bags, and various jewelry worth more than P3.8 million, and P150,000 cash were already missing.

The victim immediately reported the incident to authorities who are now conducting  investigation to identify and arrest the suspects. (Alexandria San Juan)
