The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will increase power rates by P0.09 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month, the firm said on Monday.
This means an upward adjustment of P10.1803 per kWh from P10.0901 per kWh last month, the power distributor said in a statement.
Meralco attributed the power rate hike to higher generation charge which went up to P5.3303 per kWh, an increase of P0.0578 per kWh from a month ago.
Households that consume 200 kWh will see an increase of P18 in their December bill. Those who consume 300 kWh, will be paying P27 more; for 400 kWh, P36; and 500 kWh, P45. JORDEENE B. LAGARE
