Two alleged gunrunners were killed in a buy-bust operation for firearms on Sabalo St., Barangay 12, Caloocan City Friday.

Police identified the suspects as Reggie de Guzman, 31, and a certain Jayson Paguia, both residents of the area.

De Guzman had several pending cases, including the killing of barangay tanod or watchman Antonio Braquin. He was also listed as a drug user at the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, police said.

The Northern Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group conducted the operation at the suspects’ house at about 10 a.m.

Investigation showed that while two police poseur buyers were finalizing a deal with De Guzman and Paguia, the suspects noticed that some of the bills they were given were fake.

The suspects drew firearms and shot at the policemen, who immediately took cover. They retaliated and hit the suspects on different parts of their bodies.

A team from NPD Health Service attended to the suspects but they were pronounced dead at about 10:30 a.m.

Recovered after the encounter were two .38 caliber revolvers, a caliber .45 pistol, four sachets of suspected shabu, two fired cartridge cases of 9mm caliber, two fired cartridge cases of .45 caliber, P1,000 cash, and 14 fake bills.

Two sachets of suspected shabu were retrieved from Paguia’s right front pocket. (Minka Klaudia S. Tiangco)
