WATCH: Sister Patricia Fox arrives at Naia on way out of PH

Sister Patricia Fox, an Australian missionary, arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 Saturday as she was leaving the Philippines for her native Australia because of the expiration of her missionary visa.

Religious and indigenous “lumad” groups and other supporters accompanied Fox on her way to the airport.

Earlier, a Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph College in Quezon City for Fox.

Last week, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that Fox’s visa status had been downgraded to that of a temporary visitor.

The BI then allowed Fox to stay in the country for only 59 days, which was from Sept. 5, the day her missionary visa expired.

The BI also ordered Fox’s deportation for violating “the limitations and conditions in granting the missionary visa…and order her deportation to Australia, subject to her submission of all appropriate clearances.”

However, Fox still has a pending appeal before the Department of Justice to reverse the order of deportation issued against her by the BI.

Fox began her missionary work in 1990. She was assigned in Real, Quezon from 1990 to 1995.

She was also a member of the staff of the Justice Prelature of Infanta from 1996 to 2000. /atm
