UPDATE: Missing P6.8-B ‘shabu’ seized in Cavite worth more, says anti-narcotics chief
THE P6.8 billion worth of “shabu” that authorities missed when they seized four magnetic lifters inside a warehouse in Cavite is worth more, Director General Aaron Aquino of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.
Aquino told a press conference that the cost of the illegal drug turned out to be P11 billion after the magnetic lifters were reweighed at the Department of Public Works and Highways office in Calamba, Laguna in October.
The weight of the lifters was taken in the presence of a baranggay (village) captain and the owner of the warehouse where they were found.
The magnetic lifters were placed in a container van, which weighs the same as the one previously used and then placed it in the same truck that delivered the magnetic lifters.
“We compared in the bill of reading the gross weight and net weight and we found out that there is 1.6-ton of difference and is worth P11 billion,” Aquino said in Filipino.
“I just want to prove that these magnetic lifters contained shabu,” Aquino said. ROY NARRA
