PNP: All systems go for Boracay reopening on Oct 26
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to assist tourists and locals when Boracay reopens on October 26, according to officials.
Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, regional director of Western Visayas, said police units were well-prepared after they conducted a series of activities.
“All systems go. In fact, on October 25, we are conducting the capability demonstration…and we have a series of activities that will be done in Boracay,” Bulalacao said.
“We are well-prepared insofar as equipment, the number of personnel needed, the facilities, especially the building because we have substations that are currently being constructed there,” he added.
PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde will visit the capability demonstration.
The Malay Police Station headquarters was also transferred to another area in Boracay to further assist the people there in the reopening.
Bulalacao also said the ordinance against littering o the island would be enforced after its soft opening last October 16 showed guests leaving their trash.
“The PNP will enforce all municipal ordinances especially with those punitive provisions,” Bulalacao said.
Boracay Island was closed to the public in April to undergo rehabilitation after President Rodrigo Duterte called the world-renowned tourist destination a “cesspool”.
