Pampanga vice mayoral bet dies in hospital after Saturday morning attack
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A municipal councilor, who was all set to run for vice mayor of Sasmuan town in Pampanga province, died in a hospital where he was treated after two men stabbed and shot him on Saturday morning.
Councilor Jesus “Boyet” Angeles died at 10:41 a.m. from eight stab wounds and two bullet wounds inflicted by bonnet-wearing men who assaulted the official while he was jogging at 6:30 a.m.along Dalan Babo road in Barangay Sta. Lucia, according to Senior Insp. Nicanor Zingalawa, the town’s police chief.
Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, the vice-chair of the local political party, Kambilan, condemned the attack and put out a P500,000 bounty for information that would help catch his assailants.
He also asked the police to increase security on the run-up to Oct. 11, when aspiring officials start filing their certificates of candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections.
