De Lima thanks LP colleagues for pushing for her release
Senator Leila de Lima on Friday thanked her Liberal Party (LP) colleagues for pushing for her release.
The LP’s National Executive Council (Neco) on Tuesday, Sept. 25, adopted Resolution No. Neco-2018-02, which calls for the immediate release of De Lima and seeks to create a task group to support her concerns.
“During these trying times when the President continues to use his unlimited power to besmirch the reputation, if not jail those who challenge his policies, I am extremely thankful for the concerns of my partymates about my personal and work conditions and their firm belief in my innocence,” De Lima said in a statement.

De Lima said this support reminds her that she is not alone in her fight and encourages her to defy her “oppressors.”
She said she also believes President Rodrigo Duterte will not succeed in his plans since there are still people like her party-mates who are not cowed in demanding justice.
She said justice will prevail against the President and his allies “when the day of reckoning comes.”
De Lima has been detained at the custodial center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame since February 2017 for drug charges. /muf
