Typhoon to enter Sunday afternoon
Typhoon “Trami” is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Sunday afternoon and will be named “Paeng,” the weather bureau said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Trami was seen 1,260 kilometers (km) east of central Luzon at 10 a.m.
It had winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 145 kph as it moved west northwest at 25 kph.
Trami is unlikely to make landfall or directly affect the country, although its outer cloud bands will bring rains over nearby areas, according to weather specialist Meno Mendoza.
It may also enhance the southwest monsoon over southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, an intertropical convergence zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
Flooding or landslides are possible due to scattered light to moderate rains and at times heavy rains due to thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers. GLEE JALEA
