Destabilizers can’t topple govt -Duterte

Amid an alleged destabilization plot against him, President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday expressed confidence that opposition forces would not be able to bring his administration down.
The President reiterated his appeal to the military to remain loyal to the flag and the Constitution amid “unified efforts” to topple the government.
“So I guarantee them that for as long as I have my Armed Forces that is loyal to the Constitution and to the flag only. I am just one of the beneficiaries. You remain loyal to the flag, to the Constitution. Hindi nila tayo matutumba ( they cannot bring us down). I guarantee you,” he said.
However, Duterte said he was also ready to step if the Filipino people are no longer satisfied with his performance.
“If the time comes I am no longer relevant, tomorrow will take care of itself,” he said.
Duterte, in his previous speeches, has said destabilization efforts against him and his government may reach its peak by September 21, when the country marks the 46th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.
The President claimed that the Liberal Party, Magdalo group, the Left, and his other critics have formed a loose coalition to destabilize his adminisration. CATHERINE VALENTE
