Water supply in Metro back to normal
LWATER supply has normalized in parts of Metro Manila and neighboring provinces, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. said on Tuesday.
“Maynilad is lifting the implementation of the rotational water availability schedules today,” Maynilad said in a statement.
The West Zone concessionaire briefly reduced supply because of the turbidity triggered by typhoon Ompong.
It said the situation at Ipo Dam has improved, thus water service has returned to normal.
The company has increased the water production of La Mesa Treatment Plants and store water in its reservoirs to supply the water requirement of customers.
“As of 6 a.m. today, Sept. 18, turbidity (or concentration of sediments) in the raw water from Ipo Dam has decreased to manageable levels,” it added.
Turbidity refers to the increased sediment concentrations in raw water.
“We will continue to monitor spikes in turbidity of the raw water from Ipo Dam. Given that erratic weather patterns can bring strong rainfall over the Ipo watershed and can cause the turbidity to increase again,” Maynilad said. Jordeene B. Lagare
