‘Ompong’ cancels more flights
Scores of international and domestic flights were cancelled because of Typhoon Ompong.
As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, a total of 115 flights – 74 domestic and 41 international – were affected by Typhoon Ompong.
Local airlines such as Philippine Airlines (PAL), PAL Express, Cebu Pacific Air (CEB), Cebgo, AirAsia Philippines, Skyjet as well as foreign airlines China Southern, Xiamen Airlines, Etihad Airlines, Air China, Jetstar, KLM Dutch Airlines were cancelled because of bad weather.
PAL said airports in Manila and Clark are open and other flights are operating normally except for some weather-related delays and diversions.
Flights PR105 from San Francisco was diverted to land in Cebu, while PR538 from Densapar Bali and PR2808 from Davao were diverted to Iloilo. These diverted flights proceeded to Manila after securing the necessary clearances and refueling.
