‘Ompong’ weakens, slows down
TYPHOON “Ompong” weakened and slowed down but still poses a threat to Northern Luzon, the weather bureau said Thursday.
As of 11 a.m., the typhoon was moving west at 30 kilometers per hour (kph).
It was last seen 725 kilometers (km) east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometer per hour (kp/h) near the center, down from 220 kph, and gustiness of up to 255 kp/h.
Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 has been raised over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan group of Islands, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Isabela, Benguet, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon inc. Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias and Ticao island.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila will have isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
