‘Ompong’ strands more than 500 passengers in Bicol ports
LEGAZPI CITY – More than 500 passengers in Bicol ports were stranded due to Typhoon “Ompong” (international name: Mangkhut) as of Thursday morning.
Lt. Limuel Noblefranca, operations officer of Philippine Coast Guard Bicol, said in a report that as of 8 a.m., 30 passengers were stranded in San Pascual, Masbate; 18 in Pasacao, Camarines Sur; 116 in Tabaco City, Albay; 45 in Bulan, Sorsogon; and 298 in Matnog, Sorsogon due to rough seas.
At least 37 rolling cargoes and four motorized vessels were also stranded. MA. APRIL MIER
