‘Mangkhut’ expected to enter PAR this afternoon
TYPHOON Mangkhut continues to intensify and affect parts of Northern Luzon as it travels towards the country the state-run weather bureau said on Wednesday.
On the recent weather bulletin published by the Phillippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the typhoon was last seen 1,845 kilometers (km) East of Southern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometer per hour (kp/h) and gustiness of up to 210 km/h.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail over Metro Manila, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.
The typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 2 p.m. today, and has the tendency to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” bringing scattered light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, and Palawan starting Thursday.
Meanwhile, typhoon “Barijat” (formerly “Neneng”) gradually decreased its effect on Northern Luzon as it moves 655 km west of Basco, Batanes. JOVE MOYA
