‘Mangkhut’ to enter PAR Wednesday
TYPHOON “Mangkhut” will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday afternoon and will be given the name “Ompong,” the weather bureau said on Tuesday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the typhoon will enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, and Palawan on Thursday.
The eye of typhoon Mangkhut was last seen 1,845 kilometers (km) east of southern Luzon. The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 170 kilometer per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 210 km/h.
Meanwhile, typhoon “Neneng” with international name “Bajirat” left the country at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Typhoon Bajirat was last seen 350 km west of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.
It is moving towards southern China, and is gradually decreasing its effect over northern Luzon. JOVE MOYA
