Ride-sharing service operators, drivers ask LTFRB to bring back P2 charge

About 200 ride-sharing service operators, drivers staged a noise barrage and motorcade in Quezon City on Sunday following the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) decision to suspend their P2 charge per minute.

The regulatory agency first suspended in April Grab Philippines’ travel time charge after it was enforced without board approval.

In an interview, Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) leader and CTPro President Winson Esteras said the group was hoping that LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra would reconsider and bring back the travel time charge.

“The LTFRB has to recognize the TNVS members as a very big sector of transportation providers. We are hoping that they can decide on this matter over the week,” Esteras told The Manila Times. “There is only a small portion of people who demand for the removal of out travel time charge.”

TNVS members said they would also raise the matter to Congress.

The LTFRB said it was considering bringing back the P2 per minute charge during a committee hearing last Thursday.

GCM President Arlyn Caromongan said there were three congressmen who understood and supported the TNVS.

“You will continue seeing us fight for the P2charge, if the LTFRB will not hear us, then they are lying to themselves and to Congress,” GCM President Arlyn Caromongan said. JOVE MOYA
