Low pressure area inside PH to dissipate in 48 hours; typhoon forecast on Sunday — Pagasa
THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) said on Thursday that it was monitoring two weather disturbances – a low pressure area (LPA) that entered the country early Thursday and another forecast to make its presence felt on Sunday.
The low pressure area (LPA), which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), was spotted 1,000 kilometers east of Guinan, Eastern Samar.
Pagasa said the LPA was not expected to be a typhoon and would dissipate within 24 to 48 hours.
Severe tropical storm (STS) “Jebi”, which is still outside the PAR, was now a typhoon.
As of 3 a.m., Jebi was 3,030 km east of Northern Luzon and was expected to enter the PAR on Sunday although it would unlikely make landfall, Pagasa said.
Isolated rain showers because of the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will be experienced in Batanes and the Babuyan group of islands while the rest of Northern Luzon and Aurora province will have moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest to south.
Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao will also experience rainfall, Pagasa said. JOVE MOYA
