Friends smoking ‘pot’, cursing Duterte in viral video surrender
A group of friends whose video went viral on social media for cursing President Rodrigo Duterte while smoking marijuana surrendered , police said on Wednesday morning.
Police Director Guillermo Eleazar, regional director of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), identified one of the suspects as Randal Louis Roque, a 20-year-old student in Malabon City, who surrendered to police at 2:35 a.m.
He came from Camarines Sur and was picked up by his mother after he was convinced by village officials of Barangay Tugatog in Malabon to turn himself in.
Roque was identified in the video as the shirtless man who cursed Duterte and urged him to legalize marijuana since “it doesn’t really cause them to do crimes”.
The other six in the video gave themselves up to authorities on Tuesday. They are Comelio Aguilar, Kurt Edison Aflo, Emmanuel Guerrero, Ran-ran Santos, Cedrick Acharon, and Juaneil Arvie Isles.
During the interrogation with Eleazar, the suspects pleaded for forgiveness. They said that they were joking around when they made the video.
“We still consider them as kids and they have the chance to change and be a good part of the community but they have to face the consequences of what they have done,” Eleazar said.
Eleazar said the group was willing to undergo community- or facility-based rehabilitation program but would have to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
