De Castro takes oath before colleagues as new Chief Justice
SUPREME Court Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro took her oath as top magistrate before colleagues on Monday, according to a radio report.
De Castro replaced chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno who was removed via quo warranto in May.
De Castro was given a warm welcome during the flag ceremony at the Supreme Court earlier in the day.
De Castro will be taking her ceremonial oath before President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacanang on Friday.
She will be the shortest serving Chief Justice at 41 days as she will step down from the post in October when she reaches the mandatory age of retirement.
