Village chief hurt in Cagayan shooting, gunman nabbed
TUGUEGARAO CITY— A 27-year-old man was arrested shortly after shooting a Liwan Norte village chief in Enrile town in Cagayan province on Thursday.
Senior Supt. Warren Tolito, Cagayan provincial police director, identified the suspect as Nemerick Arce of Pinukpuk town, Kalinga.
Arce allegedly attacked Ricardo Magbitang, 72, who was patrolling the streets aboard his motorcycle with village watchmen.
The gunman allegedly appeared from some bushes and shot Magbitang with a .45 caliber pistol.
Arce was immediately nabbed while others brought Magbitang to the hospital where he was treated. /muf
