‘Luis’ weakens, LPA enhances monsoon rains over parts of Luzon—Pagasa
TROPICAL depression “Luis” slightly weakened, but the low pressure area (LPA) which recently entered Philippine territory will be enhancing monsoon rains over Northern and Central Luzon, the state-run weather bureau said on Friday.
As of 8 a.m., Luis was 430 kilometers west-northwest of Basco, Batanes according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
It packs winds of 40 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 70 kph as it moved east-northeast at 15 kph.
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, the LPA located 1,205 km east of Basco Batanes will be enhancing the southwest monsoon or “habagat” over the western section of Northern and Central Luzon.
Monsoon rains are expected in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers, Pagasa said.
