PH poomsae men’s team assured of bronze in Asian Games; swimmer Yu reaches finals
THE Philippine men’s poomsae team nipped Iran to assure of a bronze medal in the 2018 Indonesia Asian Games taekwondo competition on Sunday at the Jakarta Convention Center Plenary Hall.
Filipinos Dustin Jacob Mella, Rodolfo Reyes and Jeordan Dominguez scored 8.330 points to beat the Iranians (8.100) in the quarterfinals. The semifinals and the finals of the competition are scheduled later in the afternoon.
Swimmer Roxanne Yu, meanwhile, reached the finals of the women’s 200-meter backstroke event with a qualifying time of 2:19.12. The finals of the event will be played later tonight. JOSEF T. RAMOS
