San Andres finishes 7th in Thailand motocross race

Kenneth San Andres, a multi-champion in the Philippine National Motocross series, finished seventh overall in the first round of the very competitive FIM Asia Supermoto, Asian Category, at the Thailand Circuit Nakornchaisri last Sunday.

San Andres was classified ninth overall in the International class with fellow teammate mate Moymoy Flores ending one place behind. Denmark’s Simon Vilhemsen dominated the two moto heat runs in a superb display of mixed surface riding. Vilhemsen was untouchable in his Team Del Michelin Racing bike by sliding and jumping farther than anyone.

Only British rider Lewis Cornish put up a brave fight to take second place in the two moto events. He gave a good chase in the early laps. Thailand’s Trakarn Thangthong gave local fans reason to cheer with a superb third place finish, making him the leader in the Asian Category with Malaysians Muhd Nabibullan and Mohammad Khairi Zakaria in second and third places, respectively.

San Andres finished eighth in the first moto but had a big fall in the second moto. He rallied from last place to ninth giving some fans something to watch. The young MX Champion Flores finished 10th in both motos and adapted quickly to the new discipline. This gave the Philippine team a chance to cheer on their riders against the other 15 riders in the main category.

Being one of the best MX riders in the country, San Andres promises to train harder and will attempt to be in the Top 3 when the FIM Supermoto comes to the Philippines for the next round at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila, on September 7-9.
