Police arrested in buy-bust in Taguig

A policeman was arrested on Wednesday evening in a buy-bust operation in Taguig City.

PO1 Jeffrey Amador was arrested at 8:45 p.m. by a joint operation of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Southern Police District (SPD) and National Bureau of Investigation.

He was presented on Thursday by Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) regional director, and PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde at the SPD Headquarters at Fort Bonifacio.

The operation stemmed from a complaint from Amador’s wife, Michelle, for allegedly inflicting and beating her “without apparent reason”.

She also revealed that Amador was hooked on drugs before he entered the service in December 2014.

SPD said it hadd been monitoring Amador for validating the drug allegations.

Amador, who was assigned to SPD, was relieved from his previous assignment at the PCP 1, Taguig City Police Station after a kidnapping incident in the area that involved three policemen.

Amador admitted that he was using drugs but insisted that thise that were found on him in the buy-bust operation were not his.

Albayalde did not mince his words when he confronted the arrested police officer.

“How rowdy of you to think in entering the service while using drugs. How did this criminal become a police in the first place?” he said in Filipino.

Authorities confiscated five sachets of a white crystalline substance suspected as shabu and one pistol with one magazine and five live ammunition.

Amador will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions.

Amador’s wife filed a case against him at the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for physical and psychological abuse in relation to RA 9262 or the Violence Against Women and their Children.

He also faces an administrative case and will undergo summary dismissal proceedings.
