6 policemen repel over 100 NPA rebels in attack in Northern Samar
SIX policemen from their precinct in Northern Samar repelled about 100
suspected rebels of the New People’s Army (NPA) in a surprise attack before dawn on Friday.
In a live interview on radio dzBB, Insp. Noli Motibon, chief of Lapinig, said the attackers who were most likely NPA because of their “red head bands” swooped down on their “makeshift” station on board motorcycles and on foot at about 2 a.m.
Motibon said the firefight, which lasted for about 20 minutes, wounded two of his men whom he did not identify.
He said the rebels left as paramilitary units came and that more reinforcements were expected.
