‘Karding’ lingers off Luzon, may enhance habagat – Pagasa

Tropical Depression “Karding” maintained its strength as it remained stationary over the Philippine Sea, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

Karding was barely moving when it was last spotted 1,160 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

It blew maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 65 kph.

Pagasa said Karding was not expected to make landfall but it could enhance the southwest monsoon which would dump rain over Northern and Central Luzon.

Sea travel remains risky over the western seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon. /cbb
