Netizens slam Mocah Uson ‘sneak preview’ on federalism campaign

A “sneak preview” of a federalism campaign video by Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and a fellow Duterte supporter has incurred the ire of netizens but which Uson claimed was “edited to draw the attention of people away from the importance of the issue.”

The Facebook post by the parody page “Malacañang Events and Catering Services” on Sunday has over 700,000 views, as of posting time.

The video showed one Drew Olivar dancing and chanting “e , e-pe-pe, e-dede e-pederalisimo.”

Uson said, however, that the two-minute video had a disclaimer that was edited from the original 57-minute video that was posted on her blog.

Speaking in Filipino, Uson said: To our viewers . . . this is a disclaimer . . . this game has nothing to do with the draft of the consultative committee or the Con-Com. This isn’t the one. This is just for fun, general information to spark awareness on federalism. This isn’t our information and dissemination campaign yet and the Con-Com has nothing to do with it.”

Con-Com is the constitutional commission that drafted the charter on federalism.

Below are some netizens’ comments on the video:

“Imagine, naisakatuparan na ang Federalism sa bansa. Imagine it is being taught sa school all over the place. Gan’to ang chant para mas matandaan ng mga bata,” (Imagine, if federalism is introduced to the country. Imagine it is being taught in schools. This is the chant for children to remember), said netizen Lawrence Biñas.

“It pains me deeply to know that this creature’s salary is more than what, maybe, 95% of teachers in all levels get. I imagine my colleagues’ friends losing nights and weekends, checking and planning lessons to teach truths about our world,” said Ajjie Lorelie.

“This is how cheap they think we are,” said Czarina Imperial. “Utter disrespect for our mental capacity is what this stunt is.”

“This is where my taxes go?!” wrote Jason Moss. “If I ever run into these people in public I am punching them in the face or throw s*** at them. YOU SHOULD TOO.”

Uson had been tapped to spearhead the campaign on federalism.

Fr. Ranhilio Aquino, a member of the commission, had objected to the move. WITH REPORTS FROM RALPH VILLANUEVA, REGINAN ABANG
