UPDATE 2: ‘I hate drugs,’ says former child star nabbed in buy-bust
A former child star who was arrested for drug use had this to say to his former colleagues in showbiz: “Your life is up to you. Destroy your lives…I hate drugs,”
CJ Ramos, Crommel John Ramos, in real life, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation along Tandang Sora in Quezon City by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Caloocan City Police Station on July 31.
Presented before the media by Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office regional director at his headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, Ramos, 31, said that he started doing drugs at the age of 21, six years after he quit showbiz.
He said that he was asking for money from his parents who were unaware that he was using it to buy drugs.
He then turned teary-eyed as he pleaded to his former colleagues in the showbiz industry to stop using drugs.
Eleazar said Ramos was arrested after he texted his supplier identified as Louvella Gilen, who was the initial subject of the buy-bust operation.
Police operatives then arrested Ramos and confiscated one heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected “shabu.”
Ramos was known for his breakout role as John-John in 2000 drama movie “Tanging Yaman.”
Authorities are now preparing charges against Ramos and Gilen for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They are currently detained at the Caloocan City Police Station Detention Cell. WITH A REPORT FROM ALEC NALDO
