Southwest monsoon brings rain to Metro Manila, most parts of PH—Pagasa

THE southwest monsoon or “habagat” on Friday will bring rains over parts Luzon, including Metro Manila; the Visayas and Mindanao, the state-run weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Palawan, Mindoro, Romblon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Marinduque, Calabarzon, Bicol region and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon make up Calabarzon.

Northern and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area spotted 1780 kilometers (km) east of Aparri, Cagayan remains unlikely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), weather specialist Chris Perez Said.

Although the LPA will not directly affect the country, Pagasa will continue to monitor its behavior in the coming days, he added.
