Southwest monsoon to bring rains in Metro Manila, most parts of PH—Pagasa

THE southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring cloudy skies and rains over most parts of the country, including Metro Manila on Wednesday, the state-run weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Mimaropa, and most parts of Visayas and of Mindanao.

Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon make up Calabarzon while Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan make up Mimaropa.

The southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Northern and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the cloud cluster outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has turned into a low pressure area (LPA), weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said.

“As of 10:00 a.m., the LPA was 1,600 km east of extreme Northen Luzon and is unlikely to enter PAR,” she added.

“Although it does not have a direct impact on the country, updates on the development of the low pressure area will still be monitored,” Pagasa said. GLEE JALEA
