Nigerian call center agent nabbed in Laguna buy bust

SAN PEDRO CITY — A Nigerian, working as a call center agent in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province, was arrested for selling more than half a million pesos worth of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).

The suspect Michael Amuchie, 28, was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in an operation around 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Barangay (village) Tagapo.

The PDEA, in a statement Monday, said they recovered 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 that Amuchie tried to sell to an undercover agent.

It was not immediately clear how long Amuchie had been staying in the Philippines.

In a phone interview Monday, PDEA-Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon spokesperson Mary Ann Lorenzo said Amuchie is still under investigation to determine his source of illegal drugs and his usual clients.

Amuchie is detained at the PDEA office in Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna. /je
