Toyota Vios cup goes to Alabang
With three different drivers winning the first three races, the 2018 Toyota Vios Cup is set to thrill motor sports fans as its second leg goes to Filinvest, Alabang in Muntinlupa City today.
Organized by the Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), gearheads can expect an even more heart-pounding race with 46 drivers and six celebrity racers battling it out in the challenging Alabang road circuit.
Manila Proof Racing/Parts Pro Team driver in the Super Sporting Class, Allan Uy, swept the first three races held last April at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. However, a review of all the racing incidents by the officials, including Uy’s overtaking in a yellow flag section, resulted in two other drivers emerging the winners of the two other races; Team Biskeg’s Gerard Loy was awarded the win in the second race and Keith Bryan Haw of Team Obengers the third race.
Fans will also be treated with the appearance of celebrity racers such as Sam Milby, Diego Loyzaga, Sofia Andres, and Chie Filomeno battling it with out with celebrities from last season’s race –Japanese-Brazilian model Fabio Ide and actor Troy Montero. James Deakin and Gaby Dela Merced will host the event.
TMP president Satoru Suzuki said the Vios Cup has been instrumental in developing the country’s racecar drivers.
“I am very pleased to see the program has developed our Vios Cup racers and their level of driving skills these past years. This is seen in how a number of drivers have upgraded from racing in the Promotional Class to the Sporting Class, and even battling it out in the international arena,” he said.
TMP will also launch the all-new Vios in today’s leg.
Gates open at 9 a.m. and the opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. The races will also be shown live on Facebook through Toyota Motor Philippines’ page and can be seen on smart phones.
The 2018 Vios Cup is run in partnership with Bridgestone and Rota with Petron as official fuel partner. It is supported by Motul, TRD, Brembo, Denso, AVT, 3M, OMP, and TuasonRacing.com.
