Brother of slain Ozamiz City mayor Parojinog back in PH

THE brother of slain Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. was brought back to the Philippines from Taiwan where he was arrested four months ago.

Ozamiz City councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog was escorted by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Parojinog’s plane landed in Manila at around 9:57 p.m. at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

Parojinog will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 1059 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, RA 9516 or the law against illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and for stealing electricity in his residence in Misamis Occidental.

Parojinog was arrested in March for entering Taiwan with illegal documents and sentenced to three months in prison.

Parojinog went missing after the Department of Justice issued an immigration lookout bulletin order against him in August 2017.

President Rodrigo Duterte accused the Parojinogs of operating a drug ring in Northern Mindanao. He also offered a P5 million bounty in September 2017 for the arrest of Parojinog.

His brother, Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Sr. and 14 others were killed in a raid in their residence in Misamis Occidental on July 30, 2017.

The late mayor’s children, Ozamiz City vice mayor Nova Parojinog and Reynaldo Jr., were charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Reynaldo Jr. was transferred to the Quezon City Jail while his sister is still detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
