‘Genuine’ PDP-Laban replaces Pimentel, Alvarez as party leaders; Bong Go named auditor
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte’s political party elected new leaders, replacing Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd as chairman and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez as secretary general.
Rogelio “Bic Bic” Garcia of Region 12 and Willy Talag of Metro Manila replaced Pimentel and Alvarez respectively in elections participated in by 3,000 of its members during a general assembly of the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Laban at the Amoranto Theater in Quezon City on Friday.
Also elected were Special Assistant to the president (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go as auditor; and Abbin Dalhani as chairman for the National Capital Region (NCR).
Four vice presidents each for Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao; and seven other committee chairmen were also elected.
Talag said the by-laws the PDP-Laban consitution requires elections of new officers every two years.
“Everything that happened in this assembly was done according to the constitution. There were no violations and we really made sure that everyone was united in this decision,” Talag told The Manila Times.
Garcia also reiterated that they were all “genuine members” of the party, refuting the previous claim of Pimentel that these members and the elections were “fake and unauthorized.”
“We are not a faction. We are the genuine members of PDP-Laban. This party is alive and well and we will continue to do what we’ve always done in support of President Rodrigo Duterte,” Garcia said.
