Fugitive brother of slain mayor Parojinog to be flown back to PH — police

THE fugitive brother of a slain local chief executive in the Visayas who has been tagged a drug lord will be flown back to the Philippines after his arrest in March, police said on Thursday.

Ozamiz City councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog, younger brother of former Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, is expected in Manila on Friday, Sr. Supt. Benigno Durana Jr., PNP spokesman, said.

“Yes, tomorrow. I was just told,” Durana said in a text message to reporters when asked.

Councilor Parojinog, who was being investigated for illegal possession of firearms, was arrested in Taiwan in March after 10 months in hiding.

Upon his arrival in the country, Parojinog will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and RA 9516 or the law against illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

On July 30, 2017, Reynaldo Sr. and 14 others were killed during a raid in their house in Misamis Occidental. Ricardo was not in the area during the raid.

Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog and Reynaldo Parojinog Jr., children of the late mayor, have been charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Earlier this month, Reynaldo Jr. was transferred to the Quezon City Jail from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, where his sister is detained. DEMPSEY REYES
