‘Red’ rainfall alert still up in Zambales, Bataan as ‘Josie’ heads out of PH — Pagasa
RED rainfall alert remains up over Zambales and Bataan because of heavy monsoon rains enhanced by tropical depression “Josie” on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said this meant serious flooding was expected in these provinces.
Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal are on orange alert, which means floods are a threat in these areas. Bulacan is under yellow alert, which means flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
As of 3 p.m., Josie was 265 kilometers (km) north-northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing winds of 60 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 75 kph.
It is moving north-northeast at 25 kph over Bashi Channel and will likely exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal 1 remains up in Batanes, which will continue to experience occasional rains with gusty winds.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Central Luzon, the rest of Cagayan, Western Visayas, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Mindoro, Northern Palawan will experience scattered to widespread monsoon rains for the rest of the day.
Pagasa advised the public to take appropriate action and coordinate with the disaster risk reduction management council for possible flooding and landslides. GLEE JALEA
