Village official, 3 inmates killed in shooting incidents in Cebu
A BARANGAY (village) councilor and three inmates were shot dead in separate shooting incidents in Talisay City, Cebu on Friday morning.
Art Stephen Bas, 25, an incumbent councilor of Barangay Lagtang, sustained several gunshot wounds and died on the spot.
Initial investigation revealed that Bas was on board his white Ford Everest (ZMV 596) sports utility vehicle (SUV) near his house in Sitio Kisanta at about 8 a.m. when two motorcycle-riding men arrived and fired shots at his SUV.
Meanwhile, unidentified assailants strafed a van of the Bureau and Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) that was carrying three inmates and two BJMP personnel in Barangay Linao at about 9:21 a.m. All three unidentified inmates were rushed to the hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.
Police are investigating the motive behind the shooting incidents. RHEA RUTH ROSELL
