Judicial council  bares top 3 candidates for Ombudsman

SUPREME Court Associate Justice Samuel Martires leads the shortlist of candidates of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for Ombudsman, according to a source privy to the ongoing deliberations on Friday.

The other two are Prosecutor Edilberto Sandoval and lawyer Felicito Ramirez, a friend of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Justice Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd who applied for the position to be vacated by Merceditas Gutierrez when she retires at the end of July has been disqualified, said the source who requested anonymity.
