‘Yellow’ rainfall alert up in Metro, 5 other areas because of monsoon rains–Pagasa
THE Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the yellow rainfall warning on Friday in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Zambales, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija because of monsoon rains enhanced by tropical storm “Inday” (international name: Ampil)
This means flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are also affecting Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas and Northern Quezon, which may persist within two to three hours.
Bataan will experience light to moderate rains within the next two to three hours.
As of 7 a.m., Inday was 995 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, the state-run weather bureau said.
It packs winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 105 kph as it moves northwest at 15 kph.
Inday is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country and there are no areas under tropical cyclone warning signals.
Before Inday exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning, the tropical storm will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” over Luzon.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan, Zambales, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Island will experience monsoon rains with possible flooding and landslides because of light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.
The southwest monsoon will also bring occasional rains over the rest of Luzon.
Visayas and Mindanao, which are not directly affected by the southwest monsoon, will only have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.
