‘Inday’ slightly intensifies, heads for PH Sea, out by Saturday–Pagasa

TROPICAL storm “Inday” intensified as it moved east-northeast over the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday.

As of 11 a.m., Inday was 8400 kilometers (km) east of Basco, Batanes, according to the state-run weather bureau.

It packed winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 90 kph as it moved east- northeast at 20 kph.

Inday was forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning.

The tropical storm will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” which will bring intermittent moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan and Zambales.

Scattered light to moderate to at times heavy monsoon rains will also persist over Metro Manila and rest of Luzon.

Residents in these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.

Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of Central Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon, Pagasa said. GLEE JALEA
