‘Selfie’ rape convict nabbed in Laguna
THE No. 2 “most wanted criminal” in Laguna, whose selfie inside a police station went viral, was arrested on Wednesday in San Pedro, Laguna.
Radden Argomido, a convicted rapist who is also facing frustrated murder charges, was presented on Thursday morning by Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) regional director, at Camp Bagong Diwa.
Argomido was convicted on Nov. 23, 2016 for raping a female individual in February 2013. He went into hiding after the decision on his case was handed down.
However, Argomido saw the victim’s father in Los Baños, Laguna on Jan. 1 and stabbed him 15 times in different parts of his body. He survived.
Argomido posted a selfie on Facebook inside a police station in January, which became viral.
Eleazar also said that Argomido was a drug user. The suspect, however, has yet to be subjected to a drug test.
Upon presenting the suspect to the media, the rape victim, who was also there with her father, slapped Argomido.
“You should be sentenced to death penalty instead,” the victim told Argomido.
Argomido then asked for forgiveness but the victim’s father only punched him in the stomach.
He is currently under the custody of NCRPO-Regional Special Operation Unit while waiting for the transfer documents in Calamba City, Laguna. ROY NARRA
