Slain Cavite vice mayor laid to rest; wife eyes politics behind killing
THOUSANDS of supporters and residents of Trece Martires, Cavite bid farewell to slain Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan.
Prior to the funeral march on Sunday, a mass was held before a horse-drawn carriage transported the casket of Lubigan to the Saint Jude Memorial Park where he was buried.
Supporters and residents of Lubigan lined the road leading to the Memorial Park to pay their respects to the vice mayor, with supporters carrying posters seeking justice for Lubigan.
Family members, including the late vice mayor’s wife, revealed politics had something to do with the death of her husband, as he was killed after announcing his bid to run for mayor.
Lubigan was the third local official to be killed in July. His attacker is at large. MARK JOHN R. ARROJADO
