Garin denies anew diverting P10.6B PhilHealth funds for senior citizens
FORMER Health secretary Janette Garin denied allegations that the P10.6 billion funds that were supposedly earmarked for senior citizens under the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) were diverted to the campaign kitty of the Liberal Party for the 2016 national elections.
“Hindi po totoo na may diversion of fund[s] kasi wala pong P10.6 billion na na-release,” Garin told the Senate committee on health and demography on Wednesday that was convened to discuss the alleged irregularities in the P8.1 billion Barangay Health Station (BHS) project.
“Their [PhilHealth] deficit of P9.8 billion is their deficit na ginawa nila in one year and that should be checked. And I’m very much willing to participate and give documents of the insights of PhilHealth,” said Garin who clarified the controversy over the PhilHealth funds.
(It’s not true that there was diversion of funds because there was no P10.6 billion that was released. Their deficit of P9.8 billion is their deficit that they made in one year and that should be checked. And I’m very much willing to participate and give documents of the insights of PhilHealth.)
