Online booking, cashless payment now offered at Araneta bus port
The airport-like bus terminal partners with PayMaya for a more convenient payment option
The Araneta Center Bus Port (ACBP) joins the cashless movement as it partners with PayMaya Philippines, a pioneer in mobile money and payments, to enable its passengers to book and reserve tickets online.
Taking travel convenience to a new level, ACBP passengers need not go through long queues, especially during the peak seasons such as the Holy Week and the Christmas season. They can just visit the ACBP website at aranetacenter.net/busport and follow the ticket booking and reservation process.
Cashless payment options are available for the passengers. Aside from the MasterCard, Visa and JCB debit or credit cards, they can use their PayMaya cards to purchase their tickets. The payment can be processed through the PayMaya POS terminals. For online payments, passengers may use the PayMaya payment gateway to buy their tickets.
On a time crunch? Do cashless transactions by downloading the PayMaya app for free on the Google Playstore or Apple Appstore and load it with cash at any partner reloading kiosks and stores. Then, using the app, scan the QR code found at the ACBP to buy their tickets.
With these systems in place, the ACBP continues to find ways to give travelers better service. “Whether it is online or at the bus port, booking bus tickets is now more convenient for passengers, and their total experience now made more secure with the help of PayMaya’s cashless payment options,” said Araneta Center senior vice president for operations Antonio T. Mardo.
Located just across the Ali Mall, on Gen. Romulo Ave. in Quezon City, the ACBP boasts of top-of-the-line facilities such as an air-conditioned passenger lounge, a check-in baggage counter, an airport-like centralized automated ticketing system, reliable security, and a food port where passengers can eat and relax. It serves as the main stop for provincial air-conditioned buses going to and from the Bicol region, Southern Tagalog, Visayas and Mindanao.
A subsidiary of Voyager Innovations, the digital innovations company of PLDT and Smart, PayMaya Philippines, Inc. introduced brands such as PayMaya, the prepaid online payment app that enables the financially underserved to pay online without a credit card, PayMaya Business, the company’s system solutions provider that allows businesses to receive online and card payments anytime, anywhere, the Smart Money, the world’s first e-wallet linked to a mobile phone, and Smart Padala, the leading remittance network in the Philippines with over 15,000 agents across the country.
While the Philippines is still dependent with cash and cheque modes of payments, there has been a cashless transaction movement going on, as the result of the proliferation of smartphones and the growing e-commerce industry.
In a research study titled “Challenges and Opportunities of Electronic Payment Systems in the Philippines,” which was presented during the the DLSU Research Congress 2017, data shows that women have more trust in the e-commerce security compared to men. But this could be rectified by designing more secure payment systems.
With user-friendly applications and systems, more and more Filipinos have been looking positively at the benefits of engaging in cashless transactions, including transparency, safety and convenience.
Using the digital payment ecosystem shuns people from the inefficiencies that come with cash transactions such as misunderstanding over payments, missing change, and being vulnerable to crimes and robberies. It also enables people to save time and energy going to the bank to withdraw money or the payment centers to pay their bills. Instead, they can use their e-wallet to transfer funds and pay their bills.
