Police level ‘app,’ invites public to ‘first of its kind’ system of reporting crimes

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday launched its mobile phone messaging applications containing its hotlines in what, its Director Guillermo Eleazar, said was “the first of its kind” to report crimes and erring policemen.

Globe Telecoms’ 0915-888-8181 and 0999-901-8181 for Smart may be accessed on Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, and WeChat.

Eleazar said that a Compliance Monitoring System would allow police districts to monitor to incidents forwarded to them.

Eleazar also said that a mobile app called “I-Send Mo” was being developed so that the public may have more direct access to the police.

Aside from the NCRPO hotlines, the app will also contain crime and drug prevention tips, SMS/Photos/Pic reporting, and information on how to join the “I-Send Mo” Volunteer Group.

Eleazar said that it would not only help in curbing crime but would also improve the internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“It will have more impact on our operations if [the people will report police scalawags]and we caught these police on act. There’s only a few of them but it will help us in cleaning our force,” Eleazar said in Filipino.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde then reminded all commanders that they have a responsibility to their men in keeping them disciplined and alert in their duty.

“Probably, [commanders]should exert extra effort if needed because I cannot do this alone. That is why we have commanders on the ground and we expect you to be aligned with us and tow the line,” he said.

He said this was after Police Officers 1 Radam Manglicmot, Edmar Cayanan, and Jeff Pee Calaguas, were arrested for extortion in Manila on June 28. ROY NARRA
