LTFRB suspends bus in smashup
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended one of the buses involved in an accident in Makati City which injured at least 19 people.
In a three-page order dated June 21 but released to media on Friday, the LTFRB suspended Joyselle Express Inc.’s bus with plate number TXD 328 for 30 days.
The LTFRB ordered the driver and conductor of the bus to undergo a road safety seminar and a compulsory drug test.
The operator of Joyselle Express was also ordered to explain in writing within 72 hours why its certificate of public convenience should not be suspended, canceled or revoked.
In a report by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on June 19, a southbound Joyselle Bus lost control of its brakes as it was approaching the waiting shed on Magallanes Avenue at around 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
It then rammed into the side of a Valenzuela Transport Service Cooperative Bus bound for Alabang and the rear of a Mitsubishi Mirage. —Dexter Cabalza
