Duterte slams Ombudsman for only ‘going after her enemies’
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has slammed Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for her alleged “selective indictment” against the previous administration over the controversial implementation of the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), saying she only went after her enemies.
Duterte made the statement after the Ombudsman indicted former president Benigno Aquino 3rd and former Budget secretary Florencio Abad for usurpation of legislative powers over the controversial DAP, which is punishable only by six month-imprisonment and a fine of P1,000.
In his speech before councilors from around the country in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City on Wednesday night, Duterte claimed that Morales
left something untouched in the case and would one day publicize information about it.
“Ganyan ‘yung nagyayari diyan. ‘Yun ang totoo. ‘Yung sabi mo na ano… Si Morales, akala mo na… Walang, walang… Puro kalaban ang… (That is what’s happening and that’s the truth. Morales, you think she’s fair but she’s only going after her enemies),” Duterte said of Morales, an appointee of Aquino.
“One day, I will show it to you the DAP na hindi niya ginalaw (that she did not choose to touch). We’ll publish it,” he added.
But Duterte did not elaborate, adding that he first has to find Morales’ successor from the nine candidates in preparation for her “formal exit.” CATHERINE VALENTE
