‘Habagat’ to bring more rains in Luzon

The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will continue to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains in Metro Manila and the western parts of Luzon in the next three days, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said that from Thursday to Friday, monsoon rains would continue to pour over Batanes, Babuyan, Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Batangas, Cavite, Bataan and Zambales provinces, and the whole of Metro Manila.

Provinces in the Mimaropa, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Calabarzon will also experience occasional light to moderate rains, he said.

“Habagat” is expected to weaken on Saturday, but will still bring light to moderate rains over a large portion of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The public is advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides.

Visayas and Mindanao will experience generally fair weather, although light rains brought by localized thunderstorms have not been ruled out, Bulquerin said. —Melvin Gascon
